Appearance:
-- As depicted above, when he's alone or feels justified in doing so, he wears clothing that would most commonly be found on a Native American child. 
-- When forced to act in more of a civilized manner, such as when England is visiting, he's usually in his nightie, although he'll refuse to wear shoes. If anything, he'll wear his moccasins without a fuss. 
-- He has dark red eyes and hair, which sets him at odds when it comes to interacting with the settlers/villagers/pilgrims. Alfred's appearance causes them to attempt keeping their children far from him, as if seeing him as a bad omen. 

Other:
-- He thoroughly enjoys nature and can be viewed as quite the wild child.
-- He's not yet a vegan but much prefers fruit and fish when it comes to eating.
-- Despite being resentful of European influences, blaming them for the disappearance of his mother, he doesn't yet link that with Arthur, since the Brit is one of the ones that found him when he was alone.
-- He can be somewhat clingy
-- He loves animals to the extent that he'll bring them inside and try to care for them, no matter what type.
-- He has a bit of a temper and is not above throwing a fit.

The Paint:
Regarding the paints on his face, and sometimes on his tummy (although not in the pic above), the zig-zag that spreads across his forehead, resembling a lightening bolt and otherwise known as the 'Thunderbird symbol', is believed to add power and speed to the warrior. The color green is quite often associated with harmony, healing, and nature.
The blue specs represent Wisdom/Confidence as well as the sky, river, lakes and other forms of water. Fitting for a representation of a place.
White, which can in certain situations mean peace and happiness, is more often associated with mourning. This can most likely be in regard to Alfred's mother.
